Pregnant Teen? Three Things You Need to Know

How am I going to tell my parents? Friends? Teachers? What will they think of me? How am I to continue going to school? What will happen to my body? What does a baby need? How will I take care of my baby? Where do I go from here?

These questions and a million others have probably been swirling around in your mind ever since you saw that undeniable positive line on the pregnancy test.

The good news is that you have landed at the right place.

Although I don't have all the answers to your questions, I can tell you these three things for certain:

  • You are not alone. Despite how you might be feeling right now, you are not the first teen to have experienced an unplanned pregnancy. Cross Roads is here for you to talk through options and logistics. Things sometimes seem so much better if you can just talk freely with someone about what you are going through and ask all the questions that you have.
  • You can finish school. It will not be easy, but it is possible. Thanks to Jaycie's Law, which became WV law this past July, schools must work with pregnant students by providing them academic support options to accommodate their circumstances so that teen moms can graduate from high school.
  • You can learn parenting skills while earning necessities for your baby. Cross Roads offers an Earn While You Learn parenting program, which enables moms and dads to learn valuable parenting skills while earning all the necessities for baby.

So what now?

Our clinic offers medical-grade pregnancy tests to confirm your pregnancy. We also offer early OB ultrasounds. Ultrasounds are important to confirm the viability of your pregnancy, the location of the pregnancy, and the gestational age of your baby. You may discuss options with our staff and even enroll in our Earn While You Learn program. All of our services are provided free of charge.

We are here to help you through this. Stop fretting and give us a call 304-344-4511 or text us at 304-508-2911.

You will be so glad that you did.
