An interview with one of our very own!

I had the privilege to sit down with one of our clients to ask her a little about her experience at Cross Roads.

Meet April. April has been coming since she found out she was pregnant. Her mom was familiar with Cross Roads, and her sister-in-law was a past client of ours. She said as soon as she found out she was pregnant, her mom immediately told her she needed to make an appointment with us. We did her first ultrasound, and she’s been coming for Earn While You Learn classes ever since. We have loved getting to work with her, and we are so excited to meet her baby girl who is due to arrive in just a couple short weeks!

ME:  What made you decide to come to Cross Roads?

APRIL:  I knew I was going to need help throughout my pregnancy, and I knew you guys could help me.

ME:  What was your first visit like?

APRIL:  Oh gosh.  That was a long time ago.  I know it was nice or I wouldn’t have come back!  OK.  I remember now.  I had an ultrasound with Barb.  It was so fun!  I remember she gave me pictures of my baby and prenatal vitamins.  I remember being so excited about taking my prenatal vitamins, haha!

ME:  How have you been treated here?

APRIL:  Like family!  I feel so loved every time I walk through the door.  You guys are more than fair to me, and I talk about you guys all the time.  I tell everyone they need to come here!

ME:  Have you felt supported by the staff?

APRIL: Yes, absolutely!  Especially on that day when I just had a lot on my mind.  I didn’t even have to say anything, and you just knew I needed to talk.

ME:  What material goods have you been able to get here through using the points you earned with Earn While You Learn?

APRIL:  Everything I needed!  Seriously!  A stroller, pack-n-play, car seat, bathtub, clothes, shoes, diapers, and toiletries.  And I’m going to continue to come back even after she’s born.

ME:  Do you feel like the classes you have taken have prepared you for pregnancy and motherhood?

April:  Yes, educationally I feel very prepared.  I’ve learned tips, tricks, and knickknacks.  Emotionally, I feel a little less prepared, but what I have learned here has helped me to know that I’ll be able to handle whatever is thrown at me.

ME: What is your favorite thing about coming to Cross Roads?

APRIL:  Learning new things and talking to the staff and volunteers – and of course SHOPPING!

ME:  Is there anything else you want to add?

APRIL:  If you’re scared to come, you shouldn’t be at all.  There’s just no reason to be!
