Staring down at a positive pregnancy test can bring a wave of emotions: excitement, nervousness, anticipation. It can also make you feel scared, anxious, and worried. Here are a few tips on how to cope with an unexpected pregnancy.
- 1.Stay calm.
You are not alone. Many women have been in this situation before. It’s ok to be scared. But don’t let your emotions consume you. Take a deep breath.
- 2.Verify your pregnancy.
Symptoms of pregnancy: fatigue, nausea, frequent urination, breast pain
Two weeks after conception, pregnancy can be recognized on a home pregnancy test. During your medical visit, ask your doctor for a urine or blood test; this can confirm your pregnancy.

- 3.See if your pregnancy is viable.
You can do this by scheduling an appointment for an ultrasound, which we provide for free at Cross Roads Pregnancy Care Center. Ultrasounds can confirm if your pregnancy is viable: If your pregnancy is growing in the right location, if your baby has a heartbeat, and if he/she is growing in the proper time frame? Pregnancies are constantly fluctuating, so we highly recommend that you know these things before thinking through your options.
- 4.Learn about your options.
Whether you want to keep your baby, place him/her for adoption, or are considering abortion, you need to decide what is best for you. We’d love to talk with you through your options as you start this journey!
